On April 21, 2026, Anthropic removed Claude Code from the Pro plan ($20/month). After a brief reversal following community feedback, the change was confirmed as permanent. Claude Code — the agentic coding capability that lets developers run automated workflows, multi-file edits, and CI/CD integrations — now requires a Max plan.

Max 5× starts at $100 per seat per month.

For a developer who was on Pro at $20/month, that is a 5× increase. For a 10-person development team, the annual budget impact:

Pro (before): 10 × $20 × 12 = $2,400/year

Max 5× (after): 10 × $100 × 12 = $12,000/year
